David Charlot, PhD recently spoke to aspiring science entrepreneurs at the LA Bioscience Hub (LABH) Leadership Academy held at East Los Angeles College. Dr. Charlot discussed the importance of having a business case for technology or services that will add value.
He discussed his educational background, early entrepreneurial experience with the first startup he helped co-found in San Diego, and his current venture, CBio. His presentation was heavily focused on the value of intellectual property (IP) for life science companies and also marketing strategy.
LABH wants to ensure that biotech industry reflects the diversity and dynamism of Los Angeles. To help achieve this vision they launched the Biotech Leaders Academy in 2016. One of the key components of the program is the entrepreneurship sessions, which expose students from diverse backgrounds to the spectrum of careers available in the life science industry, including the entrepreneurship pathway.
